St. Anthony Boys edge out Goseta to bag Trans-Nzoia County KSSSA soccer title

The St. Anthony’s Boys soccer team will represent Trans-Nzoia County in the high school football games in the Rift Valley region to be held at Nyahururu, Laikipia County on July 18. The team seeks to reclaim the valley title which eluded them last year.

The Trans-Nzoia County champions booked their ticket after trouncing Goseta Boys 1-0 in a tight final played at Endebess Primary School on Saturday.

The Solidarity Boys under the tutelage of Simon Masibo assisted by Yohana Wanyama got the winning goal in the 71st minute, through Aldrin Kibet after a clean ball from Joseph Barasa.

In the first half, both teams settled for a goalless draw where Goseta Boys under head coach John Murumba assisted by Amos Juma gave the champions a run for their money.

St. Anthony qualified for the County finals after devastating St.  Joseph Boys of the renowned Cosmas Stephen Nabungolo in a 2-0 goal count, in the semis 15 minutes before the final whistle.

Goseta beat St. Mark’s Boys Cherangany 1-0 after a single score by Luiz Ingavi in the first half.

Gerishom Mise’s Boys exhibited their skill in technical football to send a message that they were mature enough in attacks but luck was not on their side.

Wiyeta girls who are the Rift Valley region soccer queens shattered St. Joseph’s Girls with a 1-0 score in the finals for the County title at the Sabwani Endebess girls’ high school grounds.

The Queens under Esther Kibor got their unique and winning goal in the 89th minute through Jacinta Musanga after Eunice Nabwoba carved a clear corner.

In the semi-finals, Wiyeta beat Kwanza Girls 5-0, while St Joseph’s stunned Suwerwa Girls in a 3-1 win.
