Former Nairobi Governor, Mike Sonko has promised to educate a 7-year-old boy who was left an orphan after his mother, Mercy Mbula was murdered in Saudi Arabia.
Speaking during her burial in Kangundo, Sonko said that he will support the boy by providing everything he needs to enable him have a better future.
He noted that it was evident Mercy, aged 28, was hustling for her son when tragedy struck thus motivating him to chip in and assist the boy.
“I know Mercy went overseas because she wanted to provide a good future for her son but unfortunately she lost her life. I will cater for the education of this child, the family can decide if I will help while he lives with them or he stays with me,” Sonko said.
It is alleged that Mercy was burnt with acid by a fellow Kenyan woman identified as Sheila in a suspected love triangle.
The deceased was rushed to the hospital but died while receiving treatment.
Her parents were unable to facilitate the return of her body thus they reached out to Sonko who brought Mercy’s body to the country.
