Sigalagala National Polytechnic has cautioned students, parents, and the general public against falling prey to fraudsters purporting to offer scholarships and bursaries on behalf of the institution.

In a public notice released through its official Facebook page, the management reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and integrity, clarifying that the institution does not independently offer any scholarships apart from those facilitated through the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).

“The institution wishes to inform all students, parents, and the public that no staff member or individual has been authorized to collect any money to facilitate loans, bursaries, or scholarships on behalf of Sigalagala National Polytechnic,” the notice read in part.

The polytechnic further emphasized that admission and tuition fees are only payable through bank accounts on the day of admission, warning that any unauthorized collection of funds would attract disciplinary and legal consequences.

Students were also reminded that all assistance in applying for government-sponsored funding is free of charge and can be accessed through the Office of the Dean of Students.

The management urged anyone seeking clarification or assistance to contact the Registrar’s Office or the Dean of Students directly, warning against engaging third parties claiming to act on behalf of the institution.
