This year’s Kenya Association of Technical Training Institutions’ (KATTI) games are being held at the Siaya Institute of Technology.
The event began today, Thursday 3rd of March 2022 and is expected to end on 5th March 2022.
The institute’s Principal Daniel Randa stated that they are hosting pool ‘B’ of the KATTI Western region games which has attracted 24 institutions including two colleges for Persons Living with Disabilities.
Speaking to Education News at the institution, Randa stated that during the KATTI games which have resumed this year after being halted for two years due to the Covid-19 restrictions that affected sports, they will have various sports disciplines including soccer for men and women, volleyball and netball among others.

Randa doubled as the chairman KATTI Western Kenya chapter, stated that during the games, strict Covid-19 protocols shall be followed.
He warned that all participants in the KATTI games including players, coaches and instructors shall only be allowed to partake in the exercise upon production of their Covid-19 vaccination certificates.
The Principal added that during the games there shall be no spectators, stating that they have decided to exclude all the non-participating students in order to prevent a possible spread of the deadly virus at the institution.
“We want to see the success of hosting sports amid Covid-19 containment measures. After the successful completion of this tournament, KATTI’s National Governing Council shall meet to decide on the date and venue for the national games which should be played sometime in May or June this year,” Randa noted.
