Siaya County blamed for poorly equipped schools

By Florence Norah

Former Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo has blamed the Siaya County Government for failing to equip schools within the county.

Midiwo said the county government is corrupt and unable to discharge its responsibilities. He made these remarks recently at Sirembe Mixed Secondary School during a fund drive to assist in construction of the school’s dormitory facilities.

“The Governor must stop misusing tax payers’ funds and instead divert them to development projects such as putting up facilities in schools,” said Midiwo.

Amani National Congress Party leader Musalia Mudavadi, who was the Chief Guest, said that the future of Kenya depends on how it educates its youth. Others who were present included KUPPET National Chairman Omboko Milemba and ANC party National Chairman Kelvin Lunani.

Siaya County Woman Representative Dr. Christine Ombaka, encouraged parents to ensure their school-going, especially the girl child, is protected against sexual exploitation.
