According to the Lamu County director of education, Zachary Mutuiri, security has been beefed up in all examination centres in the region.
He further disclosed that security personnel have also been deployed to examination centres to oversee security matters.
Additionally, the county director of education warned that anyone found to have disrupted the examinations in the region will be arrested and prosecuted immediately.
However, Mutuiri advised candidates, teachers and parents to avoid cheating during the examination season, adding that the vice would lead to the cancellation of candidates’ examination results.

At the same time, he called on education stakeholders in the region to fully cooperate to ensure the examinations run effectively.
“You are therefore duty-bound in ensuring that there are no examination irregularities in the county,” the County Director of Education told education stakeholders in the area.
However, Mutuiri stated that whenever cheating cases are observed in the region, they should be reported to the relevant authorities for further action against the culprits.
“The government will not allow cheating cases to take place during the examination season,” added the county director of education.
He also urged candidates to exercise a high degree of discipline during the examination season, noting that discipline is the only key factor towards success in their final national examinations.
