Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has intensified his constituency-wide bursary programme, personally issuing cheques to needy students as he expands the initiative to polling stations across the constituency.
Amisi handed over bursary cheques to beneficiaries at St. Michael’s Top Station Secondary School, covering students from Top Station, St. Joseph’s, Grasslands and Farm Prison polling stations.
The exercise also extended to Sango Primary School in Kinyoro Ward, where students from Sango, Sikulu, Makhele, Chepkoilel and Tuuyokony’ polling centres received bursary support.
Amisi said the programme was designed to ensure needy students from different parts of Saboti have access to financial support for their education.
“Earlier this morning, I jetted back from Tharaka Nithi to my constituency to continue with our historic polling station-by-polling station bursary initiative. We are reaching out to needy students across Saboti so that financial challenges do not force our children out of school,” Amisi said.
The MP said his commitment to education was informed by his personal experience growing up as an orphan and understanding the impact that access to opportunity can have on a young person’s future.
“Education is the great equalizer. Having risen from humble beginnings as an orphan, I understand the power of opportunity. That is why I will continue investing in our children, supporting their education and building a better future for Saboti,” he said.
Amisi has previously spoken publicly about losing his parents as an infant and being raised by his grandmother.
His polling station-based approach to bursary distribution is also not new. Earlier reporting shows that Saboti has used polling stations to identify and reach bursary beneficiaries, with the model intended to make support more accessible and improve identification of needy students.
Amisi said the bursary programme would continue reaching beneficiaries across the constituency, with the polling station approach intended to bring the support closer to families.
He also defended the initiative as part of his focus on delivering tangible assistance to constituents rather than making promises without follow-through.
“No empty promises and no excuses. We are committed to delivering tangible support to our people and making sure that the resources meant for our children reach those who need them most,” Amisi said.
MP urges students to remain focused
The MP urged beneficiaries to make good use of the support and remain focused on their studies.
“Our message to the students is simple: stay in school, work hard and take advantage of every opportunity available to you. We want our children to study, succeed and become the future leaders of Saboti,” he said.
The bursary distribution is expected to continue across other polling stations in the constituency as Amisi seeks to reach more needy students.

“Let our children study. Saboti is all about work and delivery. We will continue doing our part to ensure that our young people have the opportunity to pursue their education and achieve their dreams,” Amisi said.
