Riokindo Girls School Principal, Pamelah Nyabuto, has condemned Gender Based Violence (GBV) at homes and schools because it causes physical, sexual and psychological harm to learners.
The Principal, who spoke to parents, teachers and students at her school, asked communities to understand some of the causes of the vice to enable them to be active advocates against GBV at their homes and places of work.
She said that harmful cultural norms which place women above have remained a bane to the victims and called for their urgent removal.

“These norms that depict men as sole providers and portray women as the weak link and complete property of their husbands, who allow them to twist them in any way, including killing them, should be abandoned,” she said.
She castigated an incident where a man reportedly murdered his wife at Nyangusu Division in Nyamache Sub-county and fed her flesh to his children.
