Chuka University students have breathed sigh of relief after the institution granted them access without gate passes for the next two weeks as the administration works to resolve fee balance discrepancies affecting a number of learners.
This follows a communication from the Chuka University Students Association (CUSA) leadership assuring students that ongoing system challenges between the ICT and Finance departments are being addressed urgently.
In the notice dated October 30, 2025, CUSA explained that a mismatch in fee records had caused confusion among students, particularly those clearing balances before the examination period.
The council praised students for remaining calm during what they termed a “temporary inconvenience” and encouraged them to continue attending all classes as normal.
The student leaders further thanked the university management for allowing unrestricted access to the campus while the reconciliation process is underway.
According to CUSA, the issue is expected to be fully addressed within two weeks, ending November 16, 2025. Adding that, during this period, students will not be required to present gate passes as long as they are actively attending classes and clearing fees.

“We appreciate the management for listening to our concerns and ensuring no student is unfairly denied access due to a technical issue,” the statement read.
The CUSA also advised learners experiencing individual fee complications to visit the Finance Office directly for support rather than resorting to protests or disruptive action.
CUSA stressed the importance of maintaining peace on campus, noting that exam preparation is ongoing and academic programs must proceed without interruption.
The student body emphasized its commitment to safeguarding student welfare while working hand-in-hand with the administration to ensure transparency and fairness in the fee verification process.
The notice was signed by CUSA Secretary General Brian Oduor and President Ben Geoffrey Otuka, who assured students that the council will continue tracking developments until the matter is fully resolved.
