Jubilation and ululation erupted at the Kisumu Girls High School after two items rejected by judges at the Nyanza Regional Drama and Film Festival emerged at the national gala in Nakuru.
The Kisumu-based girls’ school emerged tops in both the cultural creative dance and solo verse after they presented the two items on request and failed to cruise through at the regional stages at Orero Boys High School recently.
The school’s chief principal, Doreen Odhiambo, and her deputy, Paninah Abok, said they knew the two superb items would reach the national level.
She said they were thankful to God for the non-meaningful achievement.
Odhiambo said the girls have been dedicated to their work.
The school drama patron, Florence Owino, was equally elated and commended the girls for taking the learning institution to the next level.
She said the school was sure of making it at the national level, adding that the journey has been rough at the lower stages.
She said they requested the chief principal to allow them to present the two items.
Owino said they presented the two items at the gala festival.

She said two girls were allowed to be masters of the ceremony.
The patron said the girls are also good at academics.
Owino urged the girls to balance books and co-curricular activities.
The girls had earlier made a victory lap around the school.
Meanwhile, it was the same story at Ramba High School, where the school drama squad scooped the top prize in the choral verse.
The co-directors, George Agik and Jackton Nyamwanda commended the boys for their hard work.
They said they had expected to do well after working hard day and night, and they also thanked God for being with them that far.
