Principal Secretary for Diaspora Affairs Roseline Njogu has revealed that many qualified Kenyan youth have lost the opportunity to be employed in the diaspora due to the inappropriate skiza tunes in their phones.
PS Njogu regretted that a simple rough or rowdy skiza tune has cost many skilled Kenyans opportunities under the Kazi Majuu program.
Speaking in Meru during the Nyota Program sensitization meeting with NGAO officers, Njogu revealed that some Kenyans fail interviews for overseas jobs because of unprofessional caller tunes.
She noted that interviewer’s often hang up after hearing rowdy or inappropriate Skiza tones when attempting to reach the shortlisted candidates.

Njogu emphasized that while technical skills and academic qualifications are essential, personal grooming and well-crafted CVs also play a key role in securing diaspora jobs.
Nominated MP Dorothy Muthomi echoed Njogu’s sentiments, attributing Kenya’s high unemployment rate to the government’s failure to create sufficient job opportunities despite implementing free primary education and a 100 percent transition policy to secondary schools.
Muthomi expressed optimism that the Nyota Initiative will help bridge this gap by preparing more Kenyans for global job markets.
