Prof Charles Ong’ondo appointed new KICD director

Prof Charles Ong’ondo has been appointed as the new Director of Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) where he is set to spearhead education reforms in the country.

Prof Ong’ondo is taking over from Dr. Joel Mabonga who has been leading on acting capacity since February this year after the substantive director Dr. Julius Juan was appointed Principal Secretary for Technical and Vocational Education.

Prof Ong’ondo has sixteen years teaching experience at the University level and more than ten years as a teacher as a teacher of English and Literature in secondary school.

Prior to appointment, Prof. Ong’ondo has been an Associate Professor of English language in the Department of Curriculum, Instruction and Educational media at Moi University and also Executive Director of African Network for Internationalization of Education (ANIE) which is a Pan-African Organization committed to advancement of high quality research.

Alongside that, he is a member of the Kenya National Task Force on Access, Relevance, Transition, Equity and Quality for Effective Curriculum Reforms Implementation.

He is also a member of Kenya Association of Educational Administration and Management (KAEAM) and he has organized, attended, officiated and presented in a number of international conferences, seminars and workshops.

In addition, he is a member of the International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language (IATEFL) and founder member of Kenya Association of English Language Educators and Researchers (ASELER).

He, however, holds a PhD from the University of Leeds in United Kingdom a MA Phil and Bachelors of Education (B.Ed)  from Moi University.
