Primary schools in Nyamira receive sanitary items, stationery from donors

Primary school pupils in Nyamira County have benefitted from donations of sanitary towels, boxers, exercise books and pens courtesy of the Empowered Citizens Against Poverty (ESCAP) in collaboration with Ramichani Initiative and AGC Tenwek Mission Hospital.

ESCAP Foundation CEO Douglas Onkeo, speaking during the issuance of the items on Sunday, July 21, said that the organization was targeting students living with disabilities as well as needy learners.

“We provide devices, learning materials and walking rods for the blind to assist them and people with other body impairments to help them cope with their physical challenge, “he said.

He appealed to the parents with children living with disabilities not to hide them at home but take them to school to acquire education that will add value to their lives.

The day long activity that took Place at Sironga secondary school in Bonyamatuta Ward also helped in the donation of more than 50 assorted materials to help people living with disabilities in the area.

At the same time, the founder of Ramichan Initiative Mrs Ran said that the organization has been going around the whole county supporting both old and young people living with disabilities adding they have issued 10,000 devices countrywide since their operation started.

“Our organization gives priority is PLWD especially young school- going and their parents,” she said.

The primary schools that benefitted include; Nyairicha Special School, Sironga, and Marindi.
