Vihiga Boys’ High School was a scene of excitement and renewed optimism after it hosted President William Ruto during his tour of development projects in the county.

The brief but impactful visit left a lasting impression on students, staff, and the wider school community, reinforcing the government’s commitment to education.

Led by Senior Principal Albert Masiolo, the institution welcomed the Head of State with great enthusiasm, describing the moment as both historic and inspiring. Students lined up to catch a glimpse of the President, whose presence alone served as a powerful motivation for academic excellence and discipline.

During the visit, President Ruto made a significant financial contribution of Ksh 500,000 to support the school’s student feeding programme, specifically for the provision of bread. The donation is expected to play a key role in improving student welfare, ensuring that learners remain energized and focused on their studies.

In addition, the President pledged Ksh 10 million towards the completion of a dormitory project at the school. The development is set to ease congestion, improve accommodation standards, and create a more conducive learning environment for students. Once completed, the dormitory will mark a major milestone in the school’s ongoing infrastructure expansion efforts.

Speaking after the visit, the school administration expressed deep gratitude, noting that the President’s support comes at a crucial time when the institution is striving to enhance both academic performance and student well-being. The leadership emphasized that such partnerships between the government and learning institutions are vital in shaping the future of young people.

The visit not only boosted morale within the school but also underscored the broader importance of investing in education as a driver of national development. For the students of Vihiga High School, the day will remain etched in memory as a moment of recognition, encouragement, and hope for a brighter future.
