Professionals, alumni and political bigwigs trooped to Kapluk, Barwessa ward, Baringo North Constituency for a homecoming ceremony marked with pomp and colour to celebrate just retired teacher, Mrs. Ruth Chebor alias ‘Madam Ruth’.
Mrs. Ruth Chebor was retiring alongside her husband Haron Chebor (retired soldier) after both serving the country for over 30 years.
Speaking during the function, professionals led by Noah Bellion showered praises to the teacher for being a mentor who imparted knowledge to locals who are now trailblazers in the society.
Mr. Bellion noted that during her career, Madam Ruth was an instrumental figure who never minced her words but persistently illustrated to the community the worth of education.
The celebrated professional, who also represents People With Disabilities (PWDs), said that her exemplary mentorship during her tenure shaped various notable personalities who now serve in various capacities in government and in the private sector.
Leaders led by area Members of County Assembly (MCAs) Josphat Lokorio (Barwessa), Symon Kiplagat (Kabartonjo ward), John Aengwo (Saimo Kipsaraman) and Jane Cherop (Baringo County) adorned her career and service that greatly benefitted the community.
“Madam Ruth has left an example that needs to be emulated by generations to come in this community. Despite not achieving her dream to be a Member of County Assembly after her retirement, I assure her that I will deliver promises we made to uplift education standards,” said Mr. Josphat Lokorio.
MCA Symon Kiplagat urged the residents to take education seriously and utilize opportunities in the technical sector.
He lauded the community for their undying spirit and gesture in celebrating teachers upon their retirement.
“Teachers are the cornerstones and pillars the community incredibly depends on for their influential function in nurturing the community,” Mr. Kiplagat said.
