Police in Kisii pursue Form 4 leavers who violently robbed bartenders and patrons

Drugs seized in a school recently. The rising rates of crime among youth is blamed on drugs.

Police in Kisii County are looking for 10 youth who allegedly broke into a bar at Nyakoe town, robbed workers and patrons of valuables and harmed those who dared raise a finger.

According to area chief Janet Maronga, the suspects, among them school leavers who sat their KCSE examinations last year, invaded the bar and assaulted several workers, threatening to kill them as they ransacked the pub.

She said when the pub owner resisted the attackers, they cut off his ear.

The matter was reported at Mosocho Police Station the following morning, and the officers immediately swung into action and traced them to Gesoni village in Kitutu Chache South Constituency where they had gone to hide.

“The room was in a mess with rolls of bhang and stolen TV sets among other things, but the suspects escaped before we could arrest them,” the chief narrated.

The police confiscated the items they found as manhunt continues.

The chief appealed to parents to watch their teenage children closely, advising them to consider enrolling them in TVETs to be trained to earn a living instead of wasting away in drugs and crime.
