The police in Kisii County are looking for a known man who assaulted and tried to rape a 14 years old grade 7 school girl at their home.
According to Bernard Ombuna, the father of the minor, the suspect came to their home and found the girl a lone as parents were in the farm away from home. he inquired about their whereabout, then seized the opportunity after learning that they were away.
Ombuna added that the suspect locked the girl in the kitchen and allegedly assaulted her as he gagged her mouth with his shirt.
It is reported that the scared minor raised alarm; attracting neighbours who came for her rescue as the suspect flee the scene into hideout.
“He tore my inner pants with a sharp knife and threatened to slaughter me if I scream but I gathered courage and shouted for help,” She narrated.
Her father took her to Keumbu Subcounty hospital where she was treated of bruises on her thighs and the tender parts and allowed to go home.

The medical officer from the facility confirmed the incident, saying there was an attempt of rape as the traces of semen and bruises on the minor’s thigh were identified.
The matter was reported to Keumbu police station that immediately started manhunt for the suspect.
“I know the suspect who is a timber seller around Kegati shopping centre, let him be arrested and be arraigned in court to face the law and serve warning example to those bent to defile and ruin our children. “He said.
Kisii County Governance watch secretary Rachael Otundo condemned the heinous act and called for quick action to be taken by the police to arrest the suspect.
