A smooth and orderly leadership transition was witnessed at the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Siaya Branch as outgoing Executive Secretary Sam Opondo formally handed over office to Richard Owuor Agot.
The handover ceremony, attended by union officials and members, marked the end of Opondo’s tenure and the beginning of a new administration.
In a process described by participants as transparent and dignified, Opondo transferred official documents, office operations, staff oversight and the branch’s union bus to his successor.
Speaking during the event, Opondo emphasized the importance of institutional continuity and unity among members, noting that leadership is a trust bestowed by teachers and must be exercised with accountability.
Observers praised the outgoing official for overseeing a peaceful transition that maintained stability within the branch.
