Pay for BOM teachers delayed due to conflicting data-CAS

By Staff Reporter

The Chief Administrative Secretary for Education Zachary Kinuthia has said that payment for the Board of Management teachers has been delayed due to unverified data submitted to the Ministry.

The Ministry of Education, however, blames the school heads for submitting bloated figures on numbers of BOM teachers conflicting to what is already in the Teachers Service Commission.

“What is holding the money is the unverified data that was presented to us. We have received humongous list including teachers who are not registered with the TSC, this, however, means that school heads sent untrue and illegitimate data which might have drained the money to the wrong people,” wrote Kinuthia.

However, the CAS remained noncommittal on the precise dates for payment but said that the payments were subject to completion of the exercise. He affirmed that the money is already available at the Treasury awaiting a click of a button to disburse to various school accounts.

CAS Kinuthia said that verification of data is at the last stage and it will be completed by Tuesday 25th August 2020. “I can authoritatively say the money will be deposited to your pockets by certain date once I see the final clean and clear data,” Kinuthia added.

“This is more of concern to me because over 90% of these teachers are youths just like me and I cannot be restful while you wallow in distress. I have heard your cries,” said Kinuthia.
