The Regional Director of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) for Baringo and Nakuru counties, Rosemary Kimani, has urged parents to enrol their children in TVET institutions to equip them with practical skills for a better future.
Speaking at her office in Nakuru, Kimani noted that the government has invested heavily in improving infrastructure in TVET institutions. She emphasized that it is the responsibility of parents to take advantage of these developments by allowing their children to pursue various courses offered in institutions across the two counties.
“We urge all parents to admit trainees to our TVET institutions. They have modern infrastructure capable of supporting students in their various courses,” she said.
Kimani also called on National Government Administration Officers (NGAO), including chiefs and assistant chiefs, to continue sensitizing parents on the importance of technical skills training.

She commended the officers for their role in community outreach through barazas, which has enabled many youth to enrol in TVET institutions.
She further encouraged Members of Parliament in Baringo and Nakuru counties to sustain their support for students pursuing technical education.
Additionally, the director urged principals of TVET institutions to intensify marketing efforts to raise public awareness about the range of courses available.
“The government congratulates our TVET principals for their dedication and strong leadership in improving the status of these institutions. We encourage them to continue promoting the programmes offered so that more people can benefit from the skills training available,” she added.
