Parents and education stakeholders in Butali Chegulo ward, Malava sub-county have been urged to respect principals and school managements to motivate them to push for good examination results from students.
Addressing mourners in Namanja area within the ward during the burial of a form one student at St. Anthony Kakoyi Secondary school who succumbed to an enlarged heart after collapsing at school, Malava Boys Chief Principal John Simiyu called on stakeholders respect institutions and their Boards of Management (BoMs) saying they were entrusted to mold of their children through education.
The sentiments come as locals blame the school Principal for negligence and indifference to students’ safety which led to the student’s death.
He rubbished rumours that there was prescence of unknown satanic powers within the school that were causing disturbance for students.
Simiyu urged residents to stop looking for baseless grounds to eject the Principal, noting that the new Principal had overhauled academics at the school and elevated it to be among the top five schools in the sub-county.
“We are standing firm with the Principal, appreciating her efforts to revamp the school performance and infrastructure, paving way for more enrolment,” he said.
The school Principal Linet Kidiga narrated how the student collapsed and actions the school management took and asked the parents to treat social media propaganda about her with the contempt it deserves.
Shipala Sub-chief, standing in for his Matioli counterpart, warned social media bloggers against spreading fake news about the school and the Principal with malicious intent.
“The war being waged against the Principal is of personal interest and the collapse of the student an excuse for them to blackmail Kidiga but we will not allow few individuals to spoil something that benefits all of us.” He concluded.
