As students return back to school for the Second Term after the midterm break ,Matatu drivers and bodaboda riders have been asked to observe road safety by avoiding over speeding and carrying excessive passengers.

This was said by parents from Kenyenya Subcounty led by Joash Nyai kondo who lamented that some drivers and bodabodas riders were overcharging and carrying excess passengers despite the risky rainy season.

“Let our motorists be mindful of our children returning to school because they are also parents.” Said Callen Omweno, one of the parents

She asked drivers to avoid playing loud music and over speed to certain the safety of learners.

Omweno also asked the traffic police to be alert and arrest any traffic law breaker.

However, spot check by Education News at Magena Etago, Nyamataro Nyamache, Masimba and Kisii town, revealed light and peaceful operations in the main bus stages.

“We have not increased our bus fare against the rumoured speculations. You can witness by yourself.”  Said Andrew Mecha, a driver on the Kisii- Nakuru road.
