Parents advised not to use drugs in the presence of children

Kitutu Central DCC Juma Walela addressing students. he has asked parents to avoid abusing drugs in the presence of their children.

Kitutu Central Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Juma Walela has told parents not to use drugs in the full glare of their children, emphasizing that they will easily influence them.

“Children will copy the abuse of drugs and by the time parents discover, it will be too late,” the commissioner noted, urging students not to succumb to negative peer pressure to abuse drugs and engage in other vices.

He said learners found abusing drugs during this April holiday will be arrested and prosecuted to deter others, stressing that drugs ruin lives.

The DCC challenged parents and guardians against giving their children too much pocket money to please them, observing that the excess cash will tempt them into drugs.

He further appealed to parents and guardians to seek advice from the various school managements on reasonable amounts required as pocket money.

Walela told parents to monitor the type of friends their children keep, noting that if they have bad company, their lives will be ruined and end up failing in local and national examinations.
