Panic gripped residents of Merigi Ward on Monday morning after the body of an unidentified person was found floating at Molem Dam near SOT Technical Training Institute (SOT TTI).
The discovery was made by members of the local community and students, who quickly raised the alarm and alerted authorities. Police officers and an emergency response team arrived at the scene to retrieve the body as shocked residents gathered nearby.
The body was later moved to a mortuary for identification and post-mortem examination.

The incident comes barely weeks after the body of a SOT TTI student was recovered from the same dam, rekindling public outrage and fear over the safety of the open and unfenced water reservoir.
Police have launched investigations to determine the victim’s identity and the circumstances surrounding the death.
