Machakos School hosted its 4th edition of the Career Fair and Exhibition this week, themed Navigating the Future: Careers in the Age of Innovation, and attended by over 20 secondary schools.

The fair was attended by officials from the Ministry of Labour and various corporate organisations, where students were encouraged to take advantage of these opportunities to ask questions, explore options, and envision a path that aligns with their passion and purpose.

Dr Simon Mwangi said such exhibitions should be used to ignite one’s dreams and empower their journey towards a successful career.

“Students should not only dream big but think smart. Innovation should be their guide, and preparation and guidance should be their compass,” said Dr Mwangi.

Josephine Ndua, the Coordinator of the event and Head of the Career Department at Machakos School, said the turnout was good, with various organisations participating, including Safaricom, the Kenya Space Agency, among others, in conjunction with the Ministry of Labour.

Chief Principal Benson Manoa said the Career Fair was an annual event that drew students from all over Machakos County and the region to nurture talents and explore careers.

“We have partnered with the Ministry of Labour, Safaricom, Universities, colleges and other institutions to help the students get relevant information in career choices after school, “said Mr Manoa.

He encouraged the nurturing of career paths at an early age in line with the new CBE.

Joan Tannin from the Kenya Space Agency said she had engaged many students whose passion is in the sciences, adding that space was ‘reachable.’

James Mwendwa, a student at Machakos School, said the experience had helped him choose his career path.
