Otiende Amollo allocates KSh33 million bursary to needy Rarieda students

Students in secondary schools hailing from Rarieda Constituency have benefited from bursary support from the area NG-CDF to a tune of over KSh33 million.

The bursary will support the education of 7169 students in various secondary schools within the constituency and outside the region.

He spoke in Rarieda TVC when he issued the second batch of cheques to principals drawn from all the secondary schools in the constituency. The fund targeted form ones with Omollo Amollo saying his office has ensured equity and fairness in the awarding of bursaries.

“What we have given out so far in terms of bursaries from the NG-CDF includes KSh21.7 million for a total of 4869 students in form 2, 3, 4 and they are already in schools comfortably undertaking studies. The last batch that we have just disbursed are meant for the form ones students totaling KSh11, 362, 000 to benefit 2300 students across secondary schools. The totals students that have benefitted from the programme stand at 7169,” Otiende said.

He, however, revealed that the Rarieda NG-CDF has allocated a further KSh31 million for students and trainees in universities, TVET colleges and other tertiary institutions.

“For our students in various universities, TVETs, Medical Training Colleges, Teachers Training Colleges and other tertiary institutions, the fund has reserved a substantial amount of money to aid in paying your tuition fees. We therefore plan to disburse the funds before the April 1, to ensure we have covered all our needy students across all the learning stages,” he assured.

Apart from the bursaries support, various secondary schools also benefitted from infrastructural development. They included Kawamangaria Primary school (KSh2.4 million) for classrooms, Tanga Secondary School (KSh3.5 million) for Science laboratory and St Sylvesters Girls Secondary School which also benefitted KSh3.5 million for a modern science laboratory.

“You must appreciate that in my tenure in office, we have done extremely well in terms of uplifting education standards. A look across our schools from all corners will show you how fair we have been in terms of resource allocation including investing over KSh68 million for the Rarieda TVC in Mahaya which has in a short period enrolled over 600 students,” MP added.
