Oriwo Boys High School in Homa Bay County is entering a new chapter following the transfer of its principal, Henry Airo, who has officially assumed his new role at Sawagongo High School. His departure concludes a four-year tenure marked by academic growth, strengthened discipline, and improved administrative systems.
During his time at Oriwo Boys, Airo was credited with steering the school through a period of stability and progress. He implemented strategies that enhanced teaching standards, strengthened student support programmes, and contributed to improved examination outcomes. His leadership also fostered better collaboration between teachers, the Board of Management, and parents, laying a foundation for sustained institutional growth.
Airo’s move to Sawagongo High School, one of the region’s well-established academic institutions, is seen as recognition of his strong leadership record and commitment to education.

To fill the vacancy, the Teachers Service Commission has deployed Tom Amadi as the new principal of Oriwo Boys High School. Amadi comes from Magunga Mixed Secondary School, where he earned praise for improving academic performance, enforcing discipline, and fostering strong school–community partnerships. His leadership is described as dynamic, collaborative, and results-driven.
Amadi is expected to officially assume office on Monday. Teachers, students, and parents have welcomed his appointment, expressing optimism that he will build on the gains achieved under Airo while introducing fresh strategies to enhance the school’s academic competitiveness and institutional development.
The school’s Board of Management has assured stakeholders of a smooth transition, emphasising that continuity in leadership, coupled with innovative approaches, will be crucial for Oriwo Boys to reach new heights.
As the Homa Bay-based institution embarks on this new leadership era, expectations are high that Amadi will guide Oriwo Boys toward improved academic excellence, stronger student welfare, and long-term growth, reinforcing its position as a leading school in the county.
