Students from Nyaribari Chache Constituency studying at the University of Nairobi (UoN) have blamed the area NG-CDF office for partial remittance of education bursary funds to them.

They accused their MP of lacking human feelings and threatened to storm the office and demand justice unless the MP heard their pleas.

“The office is led by the MP’s cronies and only gives education bursary funds to their children and relatives, and treats us like foreigners when we go there. Now, we want to change the leadership,” James Areri.

They accused the Constituency Manager, Evans Makori, of feeding the MP with inappropriate information to help him make balanced decisions in serving the constituents and asked him to resign to pave the way for a competent person to serve in the ever-demanding office.

They alleged the misappropriation of shillings 180 million from the Constituency kitty and asked the Ethics and Anti- Corruption Commission to probe the MP and his NG-CDF staff.

Speaking to Education News, Area MP Zaheer Jhandah denied the allegations, calling them fabrications by his political enemies meant to tarnish his name, and asked all residents, irrespective of their political affiliations, to join hands for the common interest of fostering development in the constituency.

He asked anyone with evidence of misappropriation of funds from the NG-CDF kitty to report the matter to the police so that lawful measures can be taken against the suspects, rather than spreading rumours on the roads.

He reiterated his commitment to serving all residents equally, without isolating them based on religious, political, or any other affiliation.

“We are one community, let us not allow false information from outdistancing to detract our cherished dreams of leaving Nyaribari Chache better than we found it,” he said.

He asked the residents to stand firm and support President Ruto’s broad-based government because it has a clear development agenda for this country, rather than relying on political rhetoric.
