Nyamira ECDE teachers decry six-month salary delay

ECDE

Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) teachers from Nyamira county have expressed concern over delayed salaries.

Speaking to Education News, the teachers said they have not been paid for six months yet their contracts will end in December.

“We would love to have the money for use to even start selling vegetables,” one of the teachers said.

Jane Ong’era, who was employed on permanent and pensionable terms in March, said they received their April salaries but March salaries were withheld.

She lamented that they have been seeking help from various offices yet their efforts haven’t yielded any fruits.

The anxious teachers have now appealed to governor Amos Nyaribo to intervene so that they can sort out their financial problems.

Their cries come at a time when the governor is in the process of weeding out ghost workers.
