Parents of Nyabisase Secondary School in Nyamache Sub-County have resolved to support the new principal, Richard Ondati, shelving earlier reservations and pledging to work with the administration to safeguard the school’s reputation.
In a consultative meeting with the Board of Management and staff, parents, particularly those with children in candidate classes, promised to cooperate with the administration to ensure national examinations are conducted peacefully.
“We have invested a lot in this school for the sake of our children. We will not be shaken to destroy it with our own hands by not supporting the principal and his staff,” said parent Felistus Moraa.
The parents expressed confidence in Ondati’s leadership, citing his track record of academic and administrative excellence at Kerongorori and Mochorwa Secondary Schools.

Their support comes after a partial standoff earlier in the term, when some parents resisted paying Kshs 3,500 each to repair damage caused by student unrest that led to the school’s temporary closure. Parents praised outgoing principal David Ogega, who retired after reaching the mandatory age, and urged Ondati to emulate his legacy.

On his part, Ondati promised teamwork and unity, noting that his long experience in teaching and leadership would help raise the school’s academic profile. He appealed to parents to pay fees promptly, stressing that financial stability and goodwill are pillars of success.
A teacher who spoke anonymously said the principal and his deputy have already placed the school on a strategic academic track, adding that Ondati has been supportive with revision materials and encouragement, contrary to earlier misconceptions.
