The Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE) has issued new updates on the national assessment process for its second-year diploma students following directives from the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC).
In an internal notice signed by Deputy Director of Programmes Dr Lynett Ongera, the institution outlined key details on assessment scheduling, registration and examination fees for students pursuing the Diploma in Special Needs Teacher Education (DSNTE).
According to the institute, KNEC has confirmed that second-year students will undertake a single college-based assessment next term, between February and March 2027.
Registration for the assessment is scheduled to begin in January 2027.
KNEC to announce examination fees
Addressing concerns over examination fees, Dr Ongera said the process of determining fees under the new curriculum was ongoing.
“The process of determining examination fees for the new course is ongoing,” the notice read.
“KNEC has indicated that the examination fees will be communicated by the end of November 2026. Students will be required to pay the examination fees in January 2027 during examination registration.”
KISE management advised all affected students to align their preparations with the announced timelines.
The institution added that further guidance would be communicated as additional details become available.
