Mwalimu Sacco National Chairperson, Joel Gachari, has said that the Sacco has sponsored 250 students in secondary and higher education institutions to a tune of over Ksh 100 million .
Gachari said the Sacco selected the students who are bright and needy from various counties of Kenya and particularly from their members who are deceased.
“Our aim as Mwalimu Sacco is to be concerned about the educational progressive of our children and that is why we sponsor them to improve their academic standards,” said Gachari.
Speaking at Nuru Palace Hotel in Nakuru City during Busia County KESSHA academic workshop, Gachari said that as a Sacco, they were concerned about the education progression of learners.
He said that the project starts in 2016 and have so far had many students benefited from the project.
He took the opportunity to urge principals to submit the names of the bright students who need assistance to proceed with their education so that the Sacco can take an action to consider them in their sponsorship programmes.
The Chairperson urged newly recruited teachers to join the Sacco in order to benefit from various services offered by the Sacco.
