Muslim community hails youth inclusion in Machakos County Government

The Muslim Community in Machakos has hailed Governor Wavinya Ndeti for ensuring youth inclusion into her government.

Speaking during an Iftar dinner at the Governor’s office on Wednesday evening hosted by Governor Wavinya to mark the end of Ramadan, the Muslim community led by Sheikh Anas Abdallah said their youth had benefited from jobs and other government programmes including the Machakos Youth Service unlike in the past.

“We have many youth from the Muslim community working in the County government of Machakos unlike in the past. I thank Governor Wavinya for their inclusion and urge our community to accord her ample time to work for the people,” said Sheikh Abdallah who is also a Board member of the Machakos Municipality.

His sentiments were echoed by Chief Officer Rashid Kala (Health) among other speakers at the event.

Governor Wavinya said she is determined to ensure youth inclusion in various government projects, noting that youth comprise of 75 per cent of the total population in Machakos County.

She said the Muslim community will no longer be marginalized as they are part and parcel of the Kenyan society.

Governor Wavinya said the youth agenda is key in her government development priorities.

“I consulted extensively among the youth who told me they wanted jobs, training opportunities, promotion of sports talents and empowerment. We have initiated programmes to address the same,” She said.
