MP pledges support to education to improve academic standards in Kisii

Nyaribari Masaba Member of Parliament, MP Daniel Manduku has affirmed his commitment to supporting development projects that will uplift learning institutions and improve academic standards in the Constituency.

The MP who was speaking at Metembe SDA Secondary School in the constituency on Saturday during a fundraising ceremony to buy a modern water pump for the school, said that water is a necessary factor towards the success of any learning institution.

“Water is important in schools like this for preparations of meals washing of the classrooms and other domestic uses.” MP said.

The MP said that the school is situated on a sloppy area which makes it hard for ground water retention but said that his NG-CDF office joined hands with parents of the school to drill a borehole that will be ready to supply enough water to the school and the community when the pump will be installed.

He commended the administration for accommodating students from the neighboring Bomet and Kericho Counties to mix with their colleagues from Kisii County reflecting one of the country’s goals of education that reflect national integration spirit.

Flanked by Masimba Ward MCA Bouse Mairura, MP Manduku asked parents to provide a few supportive materials of learning like pens and revision books to add to what the government provides.

Parents who spoke during the meeting, thanked the MP for the gesture and informed him that lack of water availability affects most of the schools including Metembe Bong’onta and Masimba in the region.

Area MCA Bouse Mairura promised to coordinate a joint effort between the National and County Governments to provide a long lasting solution for water shortage in the area.

During the meeting that was filled and blessed by many local church choirs, a few speakers revisited the good work of face-lifting some schools in the region by former CS for Education Ezekiel Machogu.

The successful fundraising ceremony was also attended by Bomet MP Kibet Komingoi,Emurua Dikir MP Joan Ngeno who was represented by his Personal Assistant, among many dignitaries.
