Kitutu Masaba Member of Parliament, Shadrack Mose, has asked the Ministry of Education to consider elevating St. Paul’s Gekano in Nyamira County, into a national school.

He said the institution is one of the oldest in the area with enough teaching facilities that qualify it to be a national school.

He added that if the school is upgraded, it will admit many students across the country to enhance the national integration policy.

“There is need to use our national institutions for National integration and cohesion,” he said.

The MP who presented a cheque of Sh.1 million to the school for roofing of a modern dormitory said that he has a lot of confidence in the school to perform better because of its upward trajectory in performance in the past three years.

He thanked the Chief Principal of the School Mr. Albert Ombiro and the Management Committee led by Pr. Jason Oanda for laying strategies for the school’s academic and infrastructural improvement.

He said that the NG-CDF facilitated the school with enough piped water and consistent electricity supply and they were now looking forward to completing the dormitory.

The principal of the school Mr. Ombiro thanked the MP and his committee for the gesture and expressed of optimism in the school population to increase and perform better in the national examinations.

He said that when was transferred to the institution two years ago, he found it with 380 students but now, the population has increased to 668 students.

He attributed the growth to the diversification of extra-curriculum activities and intensive attention of individual students by teachers that attracted and show them perform better in both internal and National examinations.

He said the school improved its mean score from 4.8 in 2019 to 6 8 in 2021.

Ombiro appealed to the parents to bring their children to school in order to get quality education.

“The government encourages 100 percent transition from primary to secondary schools, I urge our parents to embrace that,” he appealed.

He said that the school has enough modern classrooms that will accommodate the learners with ease.
