Moi University on March 27, 2024 suspended all academic trips until after the Easter holidays.
The suspension has been effected after bus carrying 65 students was involved in accident at Kimende on the Nakuru-Nairobi highway on Wednesday 27 morning.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Isaac Kosgey issued the directives via the university’s social media platforms.
“This morning at around 9.50am, our University Bus KCK 583U with 65 students on board, was involved in a non-fatal traffic accident at Kimende area on the Nakuru-Nairobi Highway while on academic trip with students from the school of Art and Social Sciences, Department of Kiswahili,” the statement reads in part.

The VC added that there were no casualties or fatalities, and all students are safe. He went further by saying that the University has dispatched another bus to bring the students back to the main campus.
He further advised the drivers to take caution during this Easter Holidays thanking the public for support and concern.
“As precautionary measures, all academic trips have been suspended until after the Easter Holidays,” adds the statement.
