The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, KCSE rehearsals will proceed as planned on Friday October 17, despite the government declaring the day a public holiday in honour of the departed former Prime Minister Raila Amollo Odinga.

This was revealed after the top officials at the Ministry of Education confirmed that the rehearsals could not be rescheduled as it would interfere with the exam calendar.

They said that rehearsals are important for ensuring both candidates and invigilators are well-equipped and familiar with the exam procedures.

“Normally rehearsals are not interfered with and officers on the ground have been duly briefed,” a senior official said.

During the rehearsals, candidates will be briefed on exam rules and regulations from KNEC including instructions on acceptable behaviors, time management as well as items allowed and not allowed in the exam room.

The teachers and exam supervisors will be taken through protocols for invigilation, handling of exam material and ensuring exam integrity.

This comes as the national KCSE exams set to begin on Monday October 21, and run until November 21,2025.

The Government declared Friday 17, as a national holiday to mourn Raila Amollo Odinga, who died in India on October 15 after suffering cardiac arrest.
