The Masinde Muliro Students’ Organization (MMUSO) has formally dissolved its 8th Parliament, signaling the end of its constitutional term and the onset of a new leadership transition.
In a notice dated February 23, 2026, MMUSO President Collins Sankale Ole Lekutit invoked Chapter 5, Article 32(a) of the MMUSO Constitution to declare the House dissolved, effectively bringing its legislative mandate to a close.
The President lauded members of the outgoing Parliament for their stewardship and commitment to advancing student interests during their tenure. He noted that their service played a critical role in shaping policy deliberations and strengthening institutional governance within the students’ body.

To ensure continuity, the Students’ Executive Council (SEC) will remain in office pending the conduct of fresh elections and the subsequent inauguration of the 9th Parliament.
The dissolution marks a pivotal moment in student governance at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, setting the stage for a new cohort of leaders to assume office through an electoral process.
With the formal conclusion of the 8th Parliament, attention now shifts to the forthcoming elections that will usher in the 9th legislative assembly of the university’s student leadership.
