Meru Governor Rev. Isaac Mutuma has appealed for urgent food relief from the National Government to salvage the learning activities from the wrath of the severe drought which has affected parts of the county, particularly areas bordering Isiolo County.
WATCH:
The Governor added that the drought has led to biting hunger, affecting livestock and humans, disrupting learning in both Primary and Secondary schools in the area.

Governor Mutuma announced that the Meru County Government will pass a supplementary budget, allocating funds to purchase food for affected residents, including fortified porridge for ECD pupils.
He reiterated that the situation is dire, with approximately 600,000 people in the county needing relief food, and the number is expected to rise.
