Matiang’i asks principals to allocate portions of school land for agriculture

Internal Cabinet Secretary (CS) Dr. Fred Matiang’i has asked Principals to find ways of using their school land for agricultural production to enable them get extra income for the welfare of students and teachers.

The CS was speaking at St. Kizito Nyansiongo High School in Nyamira County, when he paid them a courtesy call.

Dr. Matiang’i said that some schools have large pieces of land which could be used to raise dairy cows or grow crops like tea and coffee to generate income that could supplement funds from the government and the parents.

He lauded the administration for starting to improving the institution’s infrastructure through the funds that were provided recently by the professionals in the region.

The CS appealed to Professionals from both Nyamira and Kisii Counties to join hands and think of ways of giving back to society in their areas.

Quoting the former President Moi’s famous phrase ‘Siasa mbaya maisha mbaya’ (Bad politics leads to bad life), the CS asked residents to avoid mixing politics with development projects.

He asked the residents to embrace peace during the ongoing campaign period because without it development would not be attained.
