Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST), in partnership with Mbele Leadership Foundation from the United States, an organisation Pioneering African-Centred Student Leadership Development, has launched a Learning Centre in the institution to help learners in the region to equip themselves with knowledge, empowering the new generation in Africa with good leadership.
Addressing the media after the commissioning of the Centre, Bishop Jawwaad Love and Dr Tami Love from the organisation congratulated MMUST for securing the launch due to many Universities that had sent their plea for the commissioning of the hub.

“It’s a blessing for this university to be part of this inaugural launch. I feel like you are our extended family, and I am sure you’ll be an institution to be looked upon,” said Bishop Jawwaad, whose sentiments were echoed by Dr Love.
The leader consequently said that the level of education is changing worldwide, and this should be addressed in most countries where the education system is still slagging behind.
They said, “We can colonise this education, so it has to be education. We can’t just be in one system for many years.”
The centre at Masinde Muliro University’s availability Will be an added advantage, as eight classrooms will be housed.

Speaking on behalf of the University chair, Dr Pamela Sitienei, who was away on an official state visit, the university Council representative George Lutomia thanked the foundation centre through Bishop Jawwaad and Dr Tami’s support, an act he said would promote the interests of the university, as defined in the Strategic Plan.
“The establishment of the Centre will aid in implementing critical university policies concerning academic matters, research, capacity building and governance. The space provided to set it up fits the Master Plan and is consistent with the council’s objective. As a council, we are responsible to the university’s stakeholders for its effective leadership,” spoke Dr Lutomia.

Similarly, the university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof Solomon Shibairo, expressed his gratitude to the Mbele Leadership Foundation for selecting Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology to host this centre, which is set to impact them significantly.
He said, “I am truly honoured to have you join us on this special occasion as we launch the Mbele Centre for African Leadership, a facility dedicated to developing, empowering, and connecting emerging leaders across the African continent and beyond.”
The Centre for African Leadership Project’s groundbreaking was attended by Dr Titus Mokursi, the East Africa director of Mbele Leadership Foundation, who added that the academic centre will shape the future of the intercontinental community.
