Discontent is brewing in Malava Constituency after residents and local leaders accused newly elected MP David Ndakwa of influencing recent teacher transfers in the area.

The legislator is alleged to have targeted educators who did not support his candidacy during the 27th November by-election, with reports suggesting that principals and teachers perceived to have voted for the opposition are being moved to remote schools without request or notice.

Prominent city lawyer Edgar Mwanga Busiega unearthed the claims, stating that the transfers amounted to punitive action against teachers who failed to amplify Ndakwa’s campaign.

“Those teachers who are perceived to have voted for the opposition in the last by-election are now being transferred without their request or notice to distant or remote areas as punishment for not supporting Ndakwa,” Busiega said in a statement shared on his social media platforms.

Busiega, who once contested the Malava seat on a DCP ticket before withdrawing in support of opposition candidate Seth Panyako of DAP-Kenya, condemned the alleged actions as discriminatory and an abuse of office. He argued that leaders should unite constituents across political divides rather than frustrate them.

The lawyer further claimed that Ndakwa was acting under instructions from Farouk Kibet, a close aide to President William Ruto, to mete out punishments against teachers deemed “rogue” for their political stance.
