Machogu defended over allegations of dishing out employment letters to teachers

Kisii County Senator Richard Onyonka has defended Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ezekiel Machogu against accusations of dishing out employment letters to teachers.

Onyonka said that the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has a procedure of recruiting its trained and qualified teachers and asked Machogu’s critics to avoid mixing politics with development.

Addressing mourners at Bomorenda village in Bonchari Constituency during Kisii County Woman Representative Dorice Aburi’s mother-in-law’s funeral, Onyonka asked young politicians from the region to respect Machogu as an elder from the area with a long public experience and consult him on leadership skills instead of ridiculing him.

The Senator was reacting to recent attacks on Machogu by Kitutu Chache South MP Anthoney Kibagendi, accusing him of corruption and nepotism.

While addressing a congregation at Etono PAG Church in Bomachoge Borabu Constituency during a fundraiser, Kibagendi had asked Machogu to stop roadside issuance of TSC letters to his relatives and cronies.

But citing successful men from the region like former Chief Justice David Maraga and Dr Fred Matiang’i who served with dignity, Onyonka asked Kisii young politicians to stop blackmailing other leaders unnecessarily as that will contaminate their public image.

The Senator asked leaders from the region to unite and work as a team in order to boost development.

The meeting was attended by Kitutu Chache South MP Anthoney Kibagendi, his Kitutu Chache North counterpart Japheth Nyakundi, Alpa Miruka (Bomachoge Chache) Sylivanus Osoro (South Mugirango), Fred Mogaka (West Mugirango ) and host Dr Charles Onchoke.

Also present was Nyamira County Woman Representative Jerusah Momanyi.
