Maasai Mara University Queens, Kaplong Classic emerge victorious in Speaker’s Volleyball Tournament

The Maasai Mara University Queens and Kaplong Classic triumphed at the Bomet Speaker’s Volleyball Tournament, showcasing skill and teamwork as hundreds cheered during the County Assembly’s Open Day celebrations.

Excitement filled the air at the Bomet County Assembly Grounds as the curtains came down on the Speaker’s Volleyball Tournament. This thrilling championship brought together teams from across institutions in Bomet and beyond.

The competition, held as part of the County Assembly Open Day and Customer Service Week celebrations, culminated in two dramatic finals that showcased skill, endurance, and sportsmanship.

In the women’s final, the Maasai Mara University Queens proved unstoppable as they edged out the spirited Bomet County Executive Women’s Team in a tense three-set encounter that ended 2–1.

The Queens displayed exceptional teamwork, strong defence, and clinical finishing to lift the coveted Women’s Trophy.

The victory followed a gruelling campaign that saw other top sides—Bomet University Women, Bomet County Assembly, and KMTC Bomet—eliminated in earlier rounds.

Spectators praised the Queens’ composure under pressure, noting their ability to turn around tight situations with tactical discipline and sharp attacking play.

In the men’s category, volleyball enthusiasts were treated to another high-voltage contest as Kaplong Classic battled its way to glory.

Facing the resilient County Assembly team in the final, Kaplong Classic recovered from an early setback to seal the win 2–1 in front of an ecstatic crowd.

The men’s tournament featured formidable teams, including Bomet University, Singorwet Men, KMTC Bomet, Koiyet Club, Bomet County Executive, and Maasai Mara University Men, each demonstrating the county’s growing depth of volleyball talent.

Organisers hailed the tournament as a success, noting that it strengthened collaboration among county institutions while promoting wellness and community spirit through sport.

“This event was more than just a competition—it was a celebration of unity, teamwork, and talent within Bomet,” said one of the organisers.

He added: “The Speaker’s Cup has now become a key annual event that inspires both students and professionals.”

The Speaker’s Volleyball Tournament continues to grow as a platform for identifying and nurturing local sports talent, while fostering social cohesion through friendly rivalry.
