Learners in West Pokot are being sensitised aggressively by teachers on how they can avoid cannibals.
According to one of the deputy principals, Cherry Ekwata, learners should avoid eating any food from strangers and even in other instances, people well known to them.
Another important step that she has asked learners to follow is moving to and from school in groups.
She has also advised learners to avoid asking for lifts because it would be hard to understand the owner’s motive.
“In case you happen to be cornered, learn to scream to your highest possible voice since through it, you could be rescued, ” she said.”
She has asked learners not to tolerate strangers: “You should only put your trust in your parent.”

The latest developments on the matter have revealed that West Pokot Legislator Hon. Moroto Samuel has asked the security agencies to investigate the incident and determine the motive behind it.
Speaking during the burial of former Kapenguria Constituency Member of Parliament, the late William Sindano at Paraywa, he stated that, “Imagine our name in Parliament has been completely tarnished as some legislators make fun of us by asking our fellow colleagues to be wary of us.”
West Pokot has strong cultural ties and it does cleanse it’s society Incase of such misfortunes.A good example is when highway robbers were killing people indiscriminately whereby the three unique clans, special in their own way took charge which saw all of them wiped out and smoked from their hideouts.
The dangerous clans emanate from the totems of Frogs, Blacksmiths and Dogs which would ensure that all the perpetrators of the vice are brought to book.
This step happens when the security apparatus become exhausted and have not fully succeeded to arrest all the accomplices.
