Laikipia University has firmly denied circulating social media allegations claiming that the institution has been diverting student bursaries and Constituency Development Fund (CDF) education sponsorships to settle delayed government capitation obligations.

In an official statement issued through the Directorate of Corporate Affairs, the University described the allegations as false, misleading, and deliberately crafted to distort public perception.

According to the statement, a review of the institution’s financial records shows that at no point has the University used bursary funds, CDF sponsorships, or any student-targeted financial support to offset government capitation. The administration insists that such claims have no basis in fact.

The University clarified that all bursary and CDF allocations are credited directly to individual student accounts, strictly following national higher education financing guidelines, adding that  the funds are applied only to reduce students’ household contributions and ease their fee burden.

“It is therefore factually inaccurate to suggest that bursary or CDF funds are being converted into capitation,” the statement emphasized, assuring students and the public of continued adherence to transparent financial practices.

The institution further advised any student who believes their bursary has not been properly reflected in their account to visit the Student Finance Office for verification and assistance.

This, the administration said, aligns with Laikipia University’s commitment to accountability and ensuring that all financial aid reaches the intended beneficiaries.

The University urged the public to disregard the misinformation and rely on official communication channels for accurate updates regarding student financing and institutional operations.
