A joint rapid-response operation involving the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), the Kajiado County Government, and SORALO rangers on Monday morning humanely neutralised a rogue elephant that had fatally attacked an Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) teacher in Ilailupa Village, near Mile 46 Trading Centre in Elangata Wuas Location.
The authorities said that the elephant was killed after a professional assessment that determined it was a threat to human life.
Authorities said the operation was conducted strictly in the interest of public safety and in line with established wildlife management protocols.

the incident was officially reported by Joel Ole Nyika, the Chief Park Warden for the Amboseli Conservation Area.
The fatal attack took place in the Loodokilani, Kajiado West Constituency.

The killing of the ECDE teacher (pictured above) has sparked renewed calls for strengthened measures to address human–wildlife conflict in wildlife-adjacent areas, particularly in parts of Kajiado County that lie close to major wildlife corridors linked to the Amboseli ecosystem.
