KUPPET Busia unveils newly elected officials

The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Busia Branch has announced a new slate of branch officials following a duly conducted electoral exercise aimed at revitalizing the union’s leadership at the county level.

Charles Mukhwana was elected Executive Secretary and will serve as the chief administrative officer of the branch. He will be deputized by Hellen Mwene, who assumes the position of Assistant Executive Secretary.

In the chairperson docket, James Omaset clinched the Branch Chairperson seat, with Alex Makana elected as Assistant Chairperson. Moses Were was entrusted with the role of Treasurer and will oversee the branch’s financial management.

Yonam Okoro secured the Organizing Secretary position, tasked with coordinating union activities and membership mobilization. Don Emacar was elected Secretary for Secondary Schools, while Kelvin Obilo will represent Junior Secondary teachers as Secretary JS.

Cynthia Olale was elected Gender Secretary, underscoring the union’s commitment to inclusivity and equity. Edger Murunga was named Third Gender Representative, while the position of Second Gender Representative was also filled during the elections.

The newly elected officials are expected to spearhead advocacy efforts for improved teachers’ welfare, enhanced working conditions, and strengthened professional representation across Busia County.

The leadership transition marks a renewed chapter for the union as it seeks to consolidate unity and advance the interests of post-primary educators in the region.
