The Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Busia branch has announced that it will boycott future Regional ball games if schools in the county continue to be mistreated.
KUPPET Busia Executive Secretary Moffats Okisai has stated that the recent move, where John Osongo Secondary School was removed from the ongoing tournament based on rumours, is unfair and selective justice, noting that if the issue isn’t addressed, particular mistreatment of schools from Busia County will lead to a demand for cessation of participation in Western Region games.
“Any ultra vires move by the jury to impeach and expunge John Osogo from the ongoing Western Region Term two games will be resisted vehemently. The old school notion of demeaning and undermining Busia County teams shall not be entertained or condoned. For the Mighty John Osogo to reach where it has reached, it means fulfilment of all prerequisites,” said Okisai.

“Busia isn’t a lesser county whose place is just trailing. If a team loses, no appeal is lodged. Interestingly, any victory attracts a litany of appeals. There’s a selective application of justice in the ongoing Western Regional games being hosted in St. Peter’s Mumias. If this trend isn’t reversed, Busia County will boycott subsequent competitions. Alternatively, we shall demand special regional status,” he added.
Okisai has now urged the Western Regional Director of Education and the entire leadership of the Western Region Secondary Schools’ Sports Association (WRSSSA) to be guided by Solomonic decisions and be wise in making decisions.
“The consequences will be dire and irreparable. We’re fully cognizant of the behind the curtain dealings. What I fear most is power with impunity. With this background, let the officials/jury be guided by Solomonic wisdom. It’s John Osogo moment or no moment,” said Okisai.
“Western Region officials watch and condone foul play, illegalities and fielding of ineligible players by schools considered sacred. KUPPET Busia requests them to step aside. In addition, their modus operandi be investigated throughout the championship period. Director, kindly revisit unfair victimization and removal of John Osogo. If this is not properly addressed, we’ll boycott subsequent regional games,” he concluded.
