Kenya secondary schools sports association has named the first group of school teams set to represent the country at the 2025 Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA) Games, following the conclusion of the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) National Term One Games held in Mombasa.
According to the KSSSA, 28 teams have earned qualification in seven disciplines and will represent the country when the regional championships are staged on home soil this August. Additional teams are expected to qualify after the Term Two games.
Rugby 15s
Western region giants Vihiga Boys lead the charge in rugby 15s, alongside Kisii School (Nyanza), All Saints (Eastern), and Upper Hill (Nairobi), all of whom displayed tactical superiority and physical dominance throughout the tournament.
Basketball
In the girls’ category, Butere Girls (Western), Kaya Tiwi (Coast), St. Joseph’s Girls Kitale (Rift Valley), and Olympic Secondary (Nairobi) clinched their places after impressive campaigns.
The boys’ division will feature Laiser Hill (Rift Valley), Dr. Aggrey (Coast), Dagoretti High (Nairobi), and Lukenya School (Eastern), with each team showcasing depth, precision, and flair on the court.
Handball
Handball action saw Kimilili Boys (Western), Kamito Boys (Rift Valley), Highway Secondary (Nairobi), and Manyatta Boys (Nyanza) qualify in the boys’ category.
On the girls’ side, Moi Girls Kamusinga (Western), St. Joseph’s Girls Kitale (Rift Valley), Dagoretti Mixed (Nairobi), and Kadika Girls (Nyanza) punched their tickets to the regional showpiece.
Hockey
Musingu Boys (Western), St. Anthony’s Boys Kitale (Rift Valley), St. Charles Lwanga (Coast), and Mpesa Academy (Central) will carry Kenya’s hopes in boys’ hockey.
The girls’ teams heading to FEASSSA include Tigoi Girls (Western), Ng’iya Girls (Nyanza), Mwiki Secondary (Nairobi), and St. Joseph’s Girls Kitale, the latter earning qualification in three disciplines,a rare feat underscoring their dominance.
According to KSSSA, the teams demonstrated exceptional quality, resilience, and discipline during the week-long competition in Mombasa, cementing their spots among East Africa’s elite school teams.
